Why?
These are the 4C's tugging on our heartstrings. Why not join the cause?
COMMUNITY
Involvement and Awareness: Let's promote physical activity in Campbellsville /Taylor County. Why? 30% of adult Kentuckians list no physical activity weekly. 33% of kids are obese or at risk. Only 8% of American schools provide daily physical education.
CONQUER
Conquer Cancer: Let's conquer childhood cancers through the charitable support of pediatric cancer research. Why? Every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer and 1 in 5 don't survive. Help support the ST. BALDRICK'S FOUNDATION.
COLOR
Fitness with Adventure: Let's find some fun and newsworthy to do. Why? Because it's fun, different, and adventurous. Fitness participants get splashed in colored powder -- it's not something you'd do on your own (normally). The 5K will have a Color Zone on the route as well as the beginning and end of the run. The color splash finale concludes the event with all participants. BRING YOUR CAMERA!
CHALLENGE
Goal Oriented Activity: Let's get students involved with incentives. Why? A challenge is good for grades, character, and fitness at any age/ level. We're incentivising these school systems to raise money -- Campbellsville, Taylor County and Kentucky Christian Academy. The school system with the most participation (measured as a percentage of enrollment) in the Color To Conquer event will be honored. Also, a student from each school system who raises the most money will be awarded a $75 cash prize (One student from each school system, 3 winners total).

What Is All This?
FAQS - ABOUT THE EVENT
Q: What is the Color To Conquer?
An adventure fitness event based on the popularity (new craze) of the "Holi - Festival of Colors" -- a tradition of throwing colored powder on each other (originating from Indian culture). Proceeds from this color festival benefit charity. Plus, you might get a good workout.
Q: What is the Colored Powder?
A: The colored powder is food grade cornstarch and food coloring (pure and safe FD&C colorants). The colored powder is all natural ingredients made in the USA by a food manufacture. No imported powder or synthetic colorants are used.
Q: Is the colored powder safe?
A: Yes, in the way that food is safe. Some people have allergies to certain foods while others don't. As with any powdered substance, you probably want to keep it out of your eyes, ears, nose, and throat. Some "participants" opt to wear glasses, goggles, bandana, or dust mask.
Q: What Should You Wear?
A: Wear fitness clothes -- preferably white clothes that you intend to get colored. Anticipate your clothes and shoes will become covered with colored powder. In this case, you want to get dirty and stain your clothes with color on purpose. You may want to wear a ball cap (white), eye glasses (sun glasses, safety glasses, or ski goggles), and a bandana/handkerchief (white) to cover your nose/mouth.
Q: Will You get Dirty or Wet?
Yes, you will probably be covered with colored powder and possibly sprayed with water to liquefy the color.
Q: Does the Colored Powder stain?
A: Yes, it might. Colored Powder can stain clothes, shoes, skin, and hair. If you love your perfectly blonde/light hair, "wear a ball cap", just in case the color doesn't clean out as you wish. Most people love to show their true colors for a day or two.
Q: What about clean-up?
A: We may provide ‘blow out’ stations, (i.e. leaf blower stations) where the participants can get excess dry powder blown off before they leave the event. When you get home, typical machine washing, with stain remover, may remove the color powder from clothes, hair, or skin.
Q: How do I get it out of my hair?
A: One way is to shave your head at the ST BALDRICKS SHAVING FOR A CURE - -SATURDAY MARCH 23, 2013. Or if you want to keep your hair, brush as much of the dry powder out as you can before you rinse with water. You may have to wash/shampoo your hair several times. People with light colored hair may want to wear a ball cap to avoid staining.
Q: Will the Color ruin your clothes or running shoes?
A: Maybe. The "color" may wash out, but it depends on many factors, especially the material. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn't mind getting colorful.
Q: Will I preserve the Color in my clothes to make it permanent?
A: If you would like to preserve the color in your running shirt, try using a vinegar based home-based recipe to soak and set the color in the fabric.
Q: How does color affect the inside of my car/home?
A: Wait -- don't wear your colored clothes in your car/home. Avoid the unthinkable -- Clean yourself before leaving the event. Bring a change of clothes or a car seat cover to protect the interior of your vehicle. Some people bring towels for the interior of their cars, just in case.
Q: What is the COLOR ZONE?
A designated area along the running route where participates are doused with colored powder (and possibly sprayed water). You may opt out by running around (and not through) the color zone.
Q: What is the DASH?
A: The Dash for short distance for anyone (not running the 5K) to run through the Color Zone and get splashed. We'll have lots of color and opportunities to get splashed.
Q: Can adults not wanting to participate in 5K do the DASH?
A: Yes, we encourage anyone not running to do DASH through the Color Zone (at your own "dashing" pace).
Q: What is the COLOR SPLASH at the end of the event?
A: All participants can join the explosion of color in the Color Zone area -- it's the grand finale. Bring your camera.
Q: Can you signup the day of the race?
A: Yes. Registration continues until the event begins. Please register early because it helps the event run more smoothly..
FAQs for students 18 and under

Q: Can kids under school age participate?
A: Yes as long as their parents sign a waiver and pay their entry/donation prior to participation.
